Lanterns are ready but nobody comes...



Nobody could fire on a candle installed on a floating Lantern for strong winter wind that night.
It was at Thai Loy Krathong festival in NARITA (JAPAN).

Loy Krathong is one of the most popular festivals in Thailand and in Japan, it is held at a Thai temple (WAT PAKNAM).
At that festival, people let a lotus-looking floating lantern (decorated flowers, candle and incense sticks etc) flow onto the water after dark.
And then people leave their bad things in the past with it and pray good luck in the future.

It is said that Loy Krathong originated Indian light festival 'DEEPAVARI' (or DIWARI) is held in the same season.
This thinking is also similar to Japanese thinking (“put the bad things in the stream and forget it”).

Well, I went taking photos there after dark.
But unfortunately, nobody there!!
I saw some lanterns were floating on the pond of the temple.
And it was deadly chilled night.
Too bad!!

I had long drive to the temple, so the only one thing I could do was waiting for.
Um...so, my patience mind gave me just a little good luck.
I could take some photos by the pond.

And people at Thai temple gave me a cup of hot noodle soup.
It made me warm really !!
The festival was small and quiet, so it had more holy atmosphere.

After festival, the driving to my home, it was hard for stormy weather.
I hope my bad luck have gone with the hard rain!!

日本人にあまり知られていないような、外国のお祭りを、
口コミやネット情報などを頼りに、探し出して写真を撮りに行くのは、
ちょとしたゲームのようで楽しいのです。
が、ハズレを引く事も多いんです（笑）。

１１月２日に、成田でタイの灯篭流しのお祭り、ローイクラトンがありました。
ローイクラトンは灯篭（とうろう）に火を灯し、過去の悪い事を灯篭と一緒に水に流し、
新たな幸運を祈る祭り。
同じ時期にあり、やはりロウソクに火を灯すインドの祭り、
ディーパバリ（ディワリ）がタイに伝わったものなのでしょうかね？

「悪い事は水に流して、もう一度やり直しましょう」という日本的な考えに近いお祭りだとも言えます。

予定では、暗闇の中、美しい灯篭を流す人たちの写真を撮ろうと、
日暮れの頃、勇んで会場に行ったのですが・・・
人がいません・・・（笑）。

無人の池に、火の消えた灯篭がただ寂しく浮かんでいたのでした（涙）。
その日の夜は、今年初めての木枯らしが吹き荒れる最悪のコンディション。
おまけに平日なので、ほとんど人が来なかったようです。

かなり長い時間待って、やっと何組かの方が灯篭を流すところを撮影できました。
その後タイ式に料理されたウドンをふるまっていただいて、
寒さに冷え切った体を温めることが出来ました。
暖かいもてなしは、やっぱりうれしい♪

ただお祭りは静かな分だけ、厳かな雰囲気で、日本の大晦日の雰囲気と似ていました。

帰り道は、嵐のような激しい雨に・・・
この雨で、自分の不運も洗い流されるといいんですがね（笑）。
