SIROISTAN? (Part 2)
Naan and Nihari
I have eaten at the Pakistani restaurant 'Al Noor' in Shiroi city twice since I found it.
I tried very popular Pakistan dishes NIHARI and BIRYANI there.
Nihari is like spicy beef stew cooked beef shank and spices.
I ate with Naan for my lunch, but it is said that Pakistani eat this food early morning.
Whenever I eat Pakistani food, I feel the difference between Japanese food and Pakistani food.
I feel Nihari is too heavy for breakfast, and I guess many people agree with me here.
But NIHARI at Al Noor tasted good and it made my body warm.
And the most impressive food in that restaurant is CHICKEN BIRYANI.
A cook said to me that it is cooked only on Friday.
And the spicy scent of this BIRYANI is just beautiful.
I found clove and cinnamon in it.
It was very spicy, tasty and about double size for me.
A small shop inside of Al Noor.
Al Noor is not only a restaurant but also it has a small shop selling spices, halal meats etc.
And the next of it is a mosque.
So it looks like community center of South Asian people.
I have seen some Bangladesh people wearing traditional Lungi were entering the restaurant.
I guess Friday is the best to go there for both of eating and people watching.
And Shiroi mosque the next has big glass wall, so I could see the people were praying inside.
It is very rare in Japan...
BIRYANI, it's Friday's special !!
白井市のパキスタン・レストラン「アルヌール」には２回ほど食べに行きました。
パキスタンではポピュラーな朝食と言われている、ニハーリーをナーンと一緒に食べたのが初め。
ニハーリーは牛のすね肉とスパイスを煮込んだビーフシチューのような料理です。
僕を含めた日本人の感覚だと朝食からニハーリーというのは、かなりヘビーで、
日本とパキスタンの食文化の違いを感じずにはいられませんね。
味はスパイシーで美味しいですよ。
飲むと体が暖まりますが、その後の胸焼けは覚悟しなくてはなりません。
２回目に行った時は、金曜日のスペシャル、チキン・ビリヤニを食べました。
ご飯の上にヨーグルトをかけて食べます。
ここのビリヤニはスパイスの香りが素晴らしく、シンプルながら、とってもレベル高いと思います。
丁子や桂皮などのスパイスがご飯の中から出てきました。
ここは、レストランだけでなくて小さな食料品店も併設されているので、
南アジア系と思われる、様々な人たちがやって来ていました。
伝統的なルンギーを着たバングラデッシュ人なども入ってきて、ディープな雰囲気でムンムンでした（笑）。
僕個人の意見ですが、やはり、ここは金曜日に行くのがベストだと思います。

ちなみに隣の白井モスク、日本では珍しくガラス張りなので、
通りから中のお祈りしている人たちの様子が眺められ、興味深いです。
ただ、神聖な場所なので注意が必要だとは思いますが。
モスクの隣が韓国居酒屋「大長今（デチャングム）」というのがいかにも日本的で笑えます。
この店も気になるー（笑）！！

SHIROISTAN? (part 1)
“Rumor has it that, there is a Pakistani community in Shiroi City near my home town.”
If I hear the word like this, somehow I cannot help seeing it.
It is said that many Pakistani are living in Japan run the same business not only just work at factory or warehouse as many foreign labors do.
The business, it is export of used car.
And there are the real halal Pakistani restaurants for them (not for Japanese) in several areas.
I have never visited Pakistan, so I can't judge whether it's the real Pakistani taste or not.
But from my experiences, I realize the four condition of good Pakistani restaurant.
It's just my own way.
1 It is located in (or by) an industrial area.
2 It stands near a mosque.
3 It has a TV inside for broadcasting Pakistani and Indian program (mainly daily news).
4 There isn't Japanese word inside the restaurant.
ISESAKI MOSQUE / GUNMA
There are some Pakistani communities in northern KANTO area.
伊勢崎モスク。モスクのそばには旨いレストランがある場合が多いです（笑）。
Some restaurants in ISESAKI and YASHIO are like this.
And the new one (AL NOOR restaurant)I found in Shiroi is the same style.

のっけからマニアックな話でスイマセン（笑）。
千葉県に「シロイスタン」と呼ばれている場所があるという噂を耳にしたので、調査してきました。
何でも、パキスタン・エリアでレストランもあるらしい・・・
僕はパキスタンへは行ったことが無いので、日本で食べるパキスタン料理が本格的なのかは、
イマイチはっきりと分からないのですが。
ただ出来る事なら、パキスタン人のお客の多い本格的な店で食べたいのが本音。
それは、「ディープな店」「怪しい店」なんて呼ばれているような店。
一応褒め言葉なんですよ（笑）。
MADINA curry restaurant at ISASAKI, it is very popular as the real Pakistani restaurant.
ディープなパキスタン・レストランとして超有名なマーディナ。伊勢崎にあります。
自分なりのディープなパキスタン・レストランの目安は次の通りです。
１ 食堂の立地が、工場地帯のようなインダストリアル・エリアの中か側にある。
２ 近くにイスラム教関係の施設か、またはパキスタン人の経営する会社か店がある。
３ 店内にテレビがあり、パキスタンかインドの番組を流している。
４ 店内に日本語表記がほとんど無い。
今まで行った中では、伊勢崎市や八潮市のレストランがそんな感じの場所で、かなりディープでした。
さて、春に自転車でサクラを見に行った、白井市今井地区からそう遠く無い、
白井工業団地のはずれにアル・ヌールというパキスタンレストランがありました。
周りにはシロイ・マスジド（モスク）や、パキスタンの中古輸出会社があって、
ちょっとしたパキスタン・エリアになっています。

在日のパキスタン人は中古車の輸出業のビジネスをされている方が多いと聞きます。
ここも、そのような方たちを中心とした小さな南アジアのコミュニティがあるようでした。

Digital life tires me sometimes
The tiredness after using computer for a long time, it's a very uncomfortable feeling as if my body is much heavier than usual.
And only my brain, eyes and fingers are active.
I guess you have had the same feeling and experience.
I sometimes escape from it and go ride my bike.
When I had my last escape, the sky was dark and chilled, they made me better.
And still now I need more fresh air...

コンピューターを長時間使い続けた後の疲れ方は、独特ですよね。
体全体がすごく重く感じられて、とってもだるい。
自分の体の中で、頭と目と指だけが、活動しているような感覚。
かなり苦手です。
そんな時は、自転車で土手の上のサイクリング・ロードを走ることにしています。
この前は、冬の初めの薄暗い空が広がっている肌寒い日でしたが、少しリフレッシュできました。
もうしばらくデジタル・ライフから離れていたいです・・・

SEBASTIAO SALGADO's photo exhibition
SEBASTIAO SALGADO, he is so famous as a photographer all over the word, so I guess it's not necessary to explain about him maybe.
I at last had an opportunity to see his original prints in his exhibition at Tokyo metropolitan museum of photography.
100 black and white prints are displayed for it, and all of them were taken in Africa.
I especially like his snap shots of African people.
In these photos, people are in very tough situation like hunger, civil war and calamity etc.
The photographer SALGADO always focus on these people's eyes.
And they (eyes) on his photos look very strong and tell many more things than mouths.
The most thing I feel from his photo is strength of people.
And all photos are not only documentary but also very beautiful.
His photo style is old in digital age, but Ｉ saw many young people came his exhibition.
It was very impressive for me.
I hope old photography style like black and white film will live in our future...

EBISU / TOKYO
ドキュメンタリー・フォトグラファーとして世界的に有名な、
セバスチャン・サルガド氏の写真展に行ってきました。
東京都写真美術館で１２月１３日まで開催されています。
彼がアフリカで撮影した白黒のプリント１００点が展示されるという、非常に大規模な写真展です。
アフリカの人々を撮影したスナップ・ショットの数々がとても印象的でした。
撮影された写真の中の多くの人たちは、
内戦、自然災害、飢餓などのとてもきつい状況に置かれています。
そんな人たちの目の表情に、サルガド氏はフォーカスして、
「人間の強さ」を写真として切り取っているように感じました。
それに、彼の写真はただのドキュメンタリーだけでなく、とても美しいです。
ざらっとした少し荒めの白黒写真で、中間のトーンが何ともいえません。
シビレました。
デジタル写真全盛の今、彼のオールドスタイルの白黒写真を見るために、
大勢の若い方たちが会場に来ていたのが、非常に印象的でした。
個人的には、フィルム写真も、まだまだ生き残って欲しいです。

What they want is AZADI (Freedom)
According to several news reports, quite a big anti Iranian Government demonstration was held in Tehran on 4th November.
The same action in Tokyo was done at EBISU park on 7th November in the response to it.
It was like an echo !!
about 30 Iranians and Japanese demonstrated for an hour then.
The most of them hided their faces for safety.
But They are not extremists, not very political people, and not very religious people too as far as I know.
They just keep on protest against killing and violent crack down, and for freedom and democracy in Iran.
It just for human rights.
Some Iranian said “It is important not to give up even just a few people join our demonstration.”
様々なニュース報道によると、１１月４日にイランのテヘランで、
大規模な現政権に対するデモが行われたようです。
ここのところ、イランでは何かの記念日（１１月４日は３０年前のイランの米大使館占拠の記念日）
の他のデモに便乗する形で、改革派のデモが行われているようです。
そのテヘランでのデモに呼応するコダマのような形で、１１月７日に東京の恵比寿公園で、
同様のデモが行われました。
約３０人のイラン人と日本人が、両国の国旗やプラカードを手に、シュプレヒコールをあげました。
多くの人たちは、身の安全のため顔を隠していました。
といっても、（僕が話をした限りでは）彼らは過激な人たちではありません。
また、特に宗教や政治に熱心でもないごく一般的な方たちです。
彼らが主張しているのは、人間として本当に基本的な権利や、
現在のイランで起こっている目に余る暴力的な行いに対してプロテストをしているだけです。
あるイラン人が言った
「たとへ参加する人が少なかったり、十分な関心を得られなくても諦めない事が大切」
という言葉が印象に残りました。
